Donations to NPO's
exceeding R100 per annum are tax deductible in South Africa, under Section 18A
of the Income Tax Act. On request we - as an NPO - can issue people donating
more than R100 with a tax receipt. South African tax payers can submit the
receipt when completing their tax return forms.
To
assist PBOs (Public Benefit Organisations) the SA government has determined that
donations to certain PBOs may be deducted from the taxable income of the
donating taxpayer. A list of the public-benefit activities approved by the
Minister of Finance is published in the Ninth Schedule to the Act. Previously
this benefit was limited to donations made to secondary and tertiary educational
institutions. A wider range of activities is now included, including religious
